Rachel Hunt

Rachel has recently taken on teaching Hoopers here at Watercombe Dogs. She runs group sessions and 1 to 1s on Mondays and Thursdays. The thing she loves most about Hoopers is it’s inclusivity. It is suitable for all ability handlers, as there is no need to keep up with your dog!

Rachel’s love for dogs started with her multiple family’s spaniels. At 18 she purchased her first dog, a Black Labrador, called Mowgli. Mowgli was a typical high-energy Lab with very little impulse control. Realising he needed a job, Rachel turned to Agility. This step transformed their relationship.

As Mowgli aged, Rachel looked for a lower-impact sport to protect his joints and began learning Hoopers. Around the same time, she welcomed her second Labrador: a Fox Red girl named Milah.

Hoopers provided a perfect introduction to the foundations needed for general dog sports, including direction cues, forward drive and confidence.

Mowgli and Milah could not be more different: Mowgli is all about the fun, but lacks independence needing extra encouragement to build his confidence and drive. Milah is all about the work, taking her training very seriously with heaps of natural drive and confidence. To properly develop Milah’s potential, Rachel came to Watercombe at the beginning of 2025.

Handling two opposite personalities has taught Rachel that there is no single way to train. Rachel loves helping other owners build strong, positive relationships with their dogs. She also loves watching dogs’ confidence and independence grow, which Hoopers is perfect for. She blends this knowledge and passion to adapt her coaching to the exact dog-and-human partnership in front of her.

Rachel frequently competes both Milah and Mowgli in Hoopers at both BK9 and CHUK shows. When not working or competing Rachel and her dogs love exploring the UK’s National Parks.

She is currently completing the CHUK Hoopers Inductors Course and BK9 Judges Course and looks forward to sharing all this knowledge with her students.
